Paul Sahre
The Office of Paul Sahre
Graphic designer, illustrator, educator and author, Paul Sahre established his New York studio in 1997. Sahre has built a large presence in American graphic design. The balance he strikes between commercial and personal projects is evident in the physical layout of his workspace: part design studio, part silkscreen lab, part classroom. In one room he designs and prints posters (some of which are in the permanent collection at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum) for various off-off Broadway theaters, while in the other room he is busy designing book covers for authors such as Rick Moody, Chuck Klosterman, Ben Marcus and Victor Pelevin. Sahre is also a frequent contributor to The New York Times’ Op-Ed page. He is the author of Leisurama Now: The Beach House for Everyone, 1964–, a loving look at a short-lived product of early ’60s consumer optimism: affordable middle-class summer homes. Sahre received his BFA and MFA in graphic design from Kent State and teaches graphic design at the School of Visual Arts. He is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale.

Dave Watson
Sleeping with the "Enemy": Life as a graphic designer in an advertising agency
If it seems like Dave has a feeling for the rhythms of design, it comes to him naturally. A born lover of music, his dreams of playing drums for the Rolling Stones were crushed at an early age. However he quickly rebounded and turned his attention to design. Dave is, and will always be, an idea man. He believes that although visual trends may come and go, good ideas are timeless. Over the last 10 years, Dave has created award-winning work for national and international clients such as Nike, MINI, Molson and Bombardier. Now, as Creative Director of Design for TAXI North America, he enjoys preaching the philosophy of holistic branding to both current and new clients. Unless, of course, he gets that call from the Stones.

Cheryl Towler Weese
Cheryl Towler Weese is creative director and founding partner at Studio Blue, a Chicago-based design firm that works with museums, universities, and other organizations that serve the public. In the studio, her responsibilities include serving as creative director, where she designs and mentors other designers; and her influence on the studio's work shows in her contextual approach as well as her intrepid demand for craft and innovation.

Cheryl began her design discipleship at age nine, when she learned to proofread galleys at her parents’ weekly newspaper. She completed college in fits and starts, preferring to work or study in a different country each year. This love of culture and language is integral to her design sensibility, and she strives to develop a new visual language with each new engagement.

The studio's work has won over 70 national and international awards, including AIGA, the American Center for Design, Graphis, ID, the Type Directors Club, and the Webby awards; and has been published in books and periodicals including Novum and Eye. Cheryl has taught and lectured on design at numerous universities and conferences, and has juried and chaired numerous design competitions, including AIGA’s 50 Books/50 Covers competition. Cheryl has served on the national board of the AIGA, where she continues to be involved in leadership that shapes the design profession.
