find a designer

How to hire a graphic designer
Choosing an experienced and qualified graphic designer who is capable of meeting your communication needs is essential.

The following ways are recommended:
  • by searching the Association’s online directory
  • by utilizing RGD Ontario’s free RFP posting service
  • through the RGD Creative Book
  • a referral from friends/colleagues
  • through workshops, seminars, consumer/industry tradeshows
  • in industry media such as Applied Arts, Design Edge and Marketing
  • by identifying a graphic designer whose work you admire
Once you have a list of candidates, qualifying and interviewing them is the next step. Interviews will give you an opportunity to:
  • discuss your project, including timing, budget and strategic goals
  • examine the designer’s portfolio
  • request references
The interview will help you assess a future client/designer relationship. Compatibility in working styles and a mutual understanding of the project needs will be considerations. The better you communicate your objectives, the more successful the graphic designer can be in meeting them. The Association welcomes inquiries from the public and can assist through this process.
