Student Representation

Every fall, RGD Ontario invite Student Members to apply for the Student Rep position on the RGD Ontario Board of Directors. Board members meet monthly on a weekday evening for about 3 hours in Toronto. Board members outside of Toronto attend meetings by teleconference. (The expense is covered by the Association.) At each meeting, Board members receive status reports from staff and committee heads, provide feedback on new initiatives and provide assistance wherever possible. Guidance and feedback from our Student Board member is particularly useful on issues such as the Student Awards, HeadStart, other student events and student membership in general.

In addition to attending the monthly meetings, the Student Board member is asked to liaise with a committee of Student Reps from schools across Ontario and keep them informed of any issues where their feedback or assistance is required.

Student Reps from each school provide RGD Ontario with a direct link to schools, coordinators, professors and students. We ask that Student Reps keep students and faculty informed of RGD Ontario activities and vice versa. The Student Reps will also be asked to work with the Student Board member to develop other programming ideas to be presented to the Board of Directors for discussion and approval.
