The journal's aim is to provide the paper industry with reliable and accurate information on sustainability

With the creation of eQ, Sappi Fine Paper North America promotes corporate transparency and sustainability education in the paper industry. As Laura Thompson, Director of Technical Marketing and Sustainable Development at Sappi and eQ Editor explained, the journal wants to give readers “the most up-to-date and topical information around sustainability to help you make more responsible choices and win more business.”

eQ adopts a holistic approach and intends to shift sustainability dialogue in the paper industry away from single attributes to the bigger picture: the entire life cycle of paper. In the first issue of eQ, Laura states that, “It is impossible for any customer to make a truly educated decision without understanding the complete life cycle of paper – from material acquisition through manufacturing and distribution, use and disposal. Environmentally sound paper can never be defined by singular attributes.”

The journal, available in PDF form, is made up of case studies, information about scientific studies, and useful tools and guides. eQ also reports on the recent sustainable strategies and tactics Sappi Fine Paper has employed. As a side note, graphic designers are likely to appreciate the newsletter’s elaborate design.
