Design at Work Reception attracts a wide audience

RGD’s annual juried exhibit, Design at Work, was on display at 350 Albert Street from May 9 to May 19, 2010. An opening reception was held on May 10.

Approximately 70 people were in attendance at the reception. The attendees were a diverse group, including an editor from the Ottawa Citizen and MP from Scarborough-Rouge River, Derek Lee.

According to attendee Luc Bergeron R.G.D., "The Design at Work reception proved to be an excellent opportunity for industry professionals, partners, stakeholders and fellow graphic designers to assemble and discuss design issues in the Capital - something that was much needed and appreciated. It was a perfect occasion to discuss, educate connect and share, as well as promote RGD Ontario and its talented members."

The Design at Work exhibit displayed a wide range of design work from a variety of organizations. Accurate displayed the 2007 Annual Report they created for Genome Canada. McMillan displayed its “positive you’re not positive” project created for the Canadian AIDS Society. Coughlin & Associates exhibited its new corporate identity and Natural Resources Canada displayed print material for its Polar Continental Shelf Program 50th anniversary.

Plans are for this to be an annual event. All Ottawa professional members are encouraged to enter Design at Work 2010 to have their work included on the website, in the printed book and in the exhibit.

RGD would like to extend a special thank you to the Design at Work opening reception sponsor, the Lowe-Martin Group. Michael Renaud had this to say about the event: "The Lowe-Martin Group was pleased to partner with the RGD to sponsor the ‘Design at Work’ exhibit in Ottawa. The Lowe-Martin Group is proud of its 100 year plus history in the printing industry and considers its partnership within the design community to be a key part of our success."
