Ottawa MP writes to Minister of Public Works on RGD's behalf

RGD Ontario continues to lobby the federal government on the issue of the procurement of graphic design services and low-price compliancy.

Recently, RGD staff, our lobbyist and some R.G.D.s working on the issue, met with politicians and government officials, including Pierre Poilievre, M.P. Nepean-Carleton Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister & to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.

At these meetings RGD Ontario works to raise awareness of this issue and suggests how the government might make changes to a system that is seriously undermining the ability of graphic design professionals to assist the federal government with its communications challenges.

At our request, Pierre Poilievre has written to The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, to raise our concerns, present our recommendations for improvements to the system - namely recognizing the RGD certification in awarding contracts related to graphic design - and asking for the Minister's thoughts on the issue.

RGD Staff and Board members continue also to meet with government officials from Public Works and Government Services as well as the Office of the Procurement Ombudsman. Other past news on this can be accessed here.

Continued updates to follow. if you have thoughts on this issue, please email RGD Executive Director, Hilary Ashworth, at hilary@rgdontario.com.
