Our advocacy role for graphic design has many action points - actively supporting, defending and maintaining a series of policies; promoting measures that broadly benefit members and the industry; increasing public awareness and disseminating information about a particular value; pleading or arguing in favour of a new idea; speaking out on issues of concern; mediating, coordinating, clarifying and advancing a particular point of view; intervening with others on the behalf of profession.
RGD Ontario best practices is currently concentrated on providing information about and combatting the unethical practice of spec work, seeking clarification from the Ontario Ministry of Revenue on the application of PST on graphic design services, developing resources for beneficial industry practices such as offering pro bono services and sustainable design.
